Synopsis:
The Alhambra was the palace of the Nasrid Dynasty, the final Moorish kingdom on the Iberian Peninsula. The palace complex is the best illustration of the style and design principles of the Moors, most notably the connection of the sumptuously decorated interior spaces to the lush outdoor spaces. The layout of the spaces and design motifs reflect the keen interest of the Moors in geometry and mathematical order. The gardens are built on a series of terraces, known as the gardens of the Partal, and feature a number of lushly planted spaces.
